The Bees maintained their unbeaten record with a draw.

Maestro FC 1 : 1 Brazilian Boyz (Walter)
Match Review by Walter.

Despite having heavy downpours for the last few days during noontime, today was an exceptionally HOT day. It was scorching and the heat wave from the ground did eventually drained the writer and most of the other players on the field.

The game started 20mins late due to the referee complaining the carpark was far away. He was probably too tired after walking from his car using his “kah” to the field. Throughout the whole game, the writer observed he just hovered like a helicopter around the midfield area. Sometimes I wonder how this type of referees can identify offside anot. Maybe next time they should wear boots with wheels so they can skate on the field. However overall, his calls were still alright.

Capt GX, started the game with a 4-1-4-1 formation with Calvin (with his smelly socks, can smell it from 1km away) in between the posts, Howard, Alan, Chris, Walter were tasked to help keep a clean sheet for Calvin, with Silas holding the DM position. Hakim, GX, Karthik & Augustine beefed up the midfield and Jeffery told the lone striker role upfront. The Brazilians boyz took the game with much confidence and speed during the initial 10mins of the game. They had a very compose and discipline midfield which could pass the ball confidently upfront. Their game style was to distribute the ball from the flanks to their “Ronaldo”- The fat one, hoping he can trouble Calvin. Once we knew they style of play, MFCians immediately switched our playing style too, which was to pass the ball more among ourselves and slowly move into their penalty box. Chances were limited for both sides during the first half with the Brazilians scoring the first goal through a misplaced pass with only the keeper to beat. Halftime score 1-0.

The halftime team talk ended with a cheer (GX thinks we didn’t do it before the first half started so we didn’t score) after the Capt decided on the lineup. 2nd half started with YangShan, Gerald and Hakim in middle and Alwyn on the right. Walter, Karthik & GX looked from the sideline and saw a transformed MFC (must be the cheer). MFCians started to play with so much confidence and we had the lion’s share of possession. The Brazilians looked tired and was sitting back defending throughout the 2nd half. Fatigue kicked in and it was clear MFC looked so much more acclimatized to the hot weather. Maestro FC pushed for the equalizer and came close during the opening 5mins of the 2nd half when Yang Shan slotted a slick thru ball for Jeff to slot in the goal mouth, only for Jeff to put it wide. Chris also came close to getting onto the score sheet with a good header. The pressure soaked up so much and the bees knew their chance was coming. It came courtesy of a corner clearance which landed just in front of the writer, who lobbed it into the top right hand corner. GOAL!!! (it’s the writer’s first goal since Sunsports league days).  He thank God for it and dedicate his goal to Hakim (he asked for this) since Hakim stood up for him during last week game which ended in a red card to the opponent. The game ended 1-1 and we had plenty to smile about despite a draw.

High Points
1) Sufficient play time for all players.
2) A lot of passing and possession of the ball. Showed a lot of confidence and fighting spirit.
3) Writer felt that every MFCian had a good game but felt Wee Hian did a lot better than his usual. Did you guys notice Wee Hian had dribbled up to the final 3rd of the field today and played a lot in the opponents half today despite playing as a defender? Good Job Bro.
4) Shan and Hakim showing a lot of understanding in today’s game.
5)  Undefeated yet again.

Low Points
1) Hot weather- Was it 39 DegC today?
2) Referee came late.
3) Sarah kana ball strikes from a lot of players today.
4) GX and Jeff getting mild injuries- Get well soon.
