The Player of the Quarter (Jun 2012 to Aug 2012) Nominees (we have 4 this time!)

Norris Liew
Norris has been with Maestro for a long time and his ability ranks amongst the best Maestro players. Despite his preference to play as a striker or winger, he has consistently performed well at centre back when called on by Captain and Vice. His timely headers and last ditch tackles helped prevent many goals and his good performances match after match makes it easy for the Captain pair him with Alan, Chris or Wee Hian. Beyond his abilities, Norris' punctuality and turn up in the past 4 months has also improved. In times when Maestro needed keepers, he either played as keeper or called his friend (the one-match Cedric) to play for us. When called upon to do up match review, Norris also does it willingly and is one of the fastest to submit the review for posting.

Calvin Koo
In Gary's absence, Calvin has really grown into the keeper role and excelled in it. He has saved penalties, one on one shots and really gave assurance to the Maestro defence whenever he plays. Punctuality wise, Calvin is consistently one of the earlier players to reach every week and attitude wise, we are sure that the team would agree that week in, week out, Calvin is really an unsung hero, continuing to do his best between the posts despite all the jibes and teases from the team. Many times, Calvin would take it upon himself to waste "playing time" just to help the team recover or play out the final minutes of the game where Maestro has a narrow lead. It is amazing how many different scenarios he can think of to waste time, and as much as it is wrong to employ the time wasting tactic, Calvin means well for the team.

Xu Rong An
Rong An's ability to single handedly win games for us already justifies his nomination. Over the past few months, Rong An has really found his form, hitting the back of the net 10 times since Jul 2012. During this period, he really reserved the best for X League, demolishing ex-X League FC Rovers with 2 outrageous goals to condemn them to their only league defeat, scoring a total of 6 goals across 2 games with Vipers. Speak to Rong An and you will find that he loves Maestro and looks forward to our games. He is his biggest enemy because he forces such high standards on himself but for Maestro, it bodes well as it translates into extraordinary and determined performances. Who can forget how he played on with a bleeding gum, cracked tooth, just to get his fourth goal in the match against Vipers? He has mentioned on a few occasion that he wants to help the team improve and if given the platform to do so, it is likely that he will do it.

Noorhakim
Our version of Xavi, Iniesta. Hakim has proved pivotal to Maestro in his role in midfield, be it centre of at the wings. Over the past few months, Hakim has calmed down nervy midfield passing with his assured and calm manner of play. His manner of playing has helped Maestro adopt the same passing style and all would agree that there is no better passer of the ball than Hakim. Despite the relaxed style, Hakim seems to be able to get out of sticky situations and put himself into good positions. Certainly he has an advanced footballing brain. Goals wise, he has contributed his fair share as he sits in second spot of the Maestro X League scorers. Hakim just loves the game and to be on the field, he has never requested or insisted on a fixed role and even when asked to play at left or right backs, he performs to the task. His attendance has also improved from a bit part player to a regular of the team and he has contributed with timely match review as well.
