Maestro FC Vs Indian Team Match Review

Maestro FC 2 : 1 Indian Team (Guo Xian x 2)

Match Review by Norris Liew

This week’s opponent is a bunch of Indian fellowman consisting of big and skinny players. Looking dangerous, MFC are on the look out to keep their winning streak with a strong turn out of more then 17 players for our captain to select.

The match started off with the usual and secure formation 4-5-1. Gary back from a loan spell in Korea in between the post, Norris, big Eric, Walter and Kartik taking their usual defensive role. Augustine, Gerald, Jon, Abhi and Jeffrey on the midfielder line. Not forgetting our STAR striker GX occupying the lone striker role. Passing was fluent among our players, and with the help of the shy sunlight today, MFC looked to attack in all ways possible in the first 15 mins.

Looking deadly with his recent form and passes is our target man Jonathan. Always doing the flick ons for other players to move forward comes with another of his spectacular runs down the left flank. Our first goal comes with a simple tap in from GX. Jon received a cross from the left and he squared the ball to the screaming GX and without disappointment, he did what was needed of him. (He claims that it was a difficult tap in as his positioning was superb) crap la. HAHA! 1-0 to MFC.

With the opponents pushing more and more forward with their skinny and speedy CM, MFC’s defense wall repel against all attack that comes their way. Forever the nightmare and fear for all strikers is Norris the heart of defense. Emerging from the ranks of a striker to cementing a CB position for him. Clearing balls all over, marshaling the defense line with his great football instinct and senses. Shortly after, MFC got their 2 nd goal through the right flank this time. Speedy Augustine making the run down the right hitting a chest area shot to the SUMO guy, resulting him using his arm to block in the penalty area. GX stood up to with confidence. 2-0 for first half.

2nd half started the way we start the game with MFC captain introducing a few fresh legs. Our powerful, calm and always steady hakim looks to show us his cool passes all around. With MFC dominating the match, the opponents look tired and shag to penetrate MFC. As MFC looks to be on their comfort zone, they hit us with a floating long ball to our left defense. A clear offside was not given by the referee resulting in a fast dribbler passing Zirong effortlessly took a stinging low shot. Shot stopper Calvin was in the post this time to stop the first shot, a follow up was given to another indian guy who took it calmly pass calvin. 2-1 score line during this time of the game.

As friendly as it is, MFC captain is not afraid to tryout a new formation. Big Eric pushing further up leaving with just 3 defenders in the backline. Norris marshaled the defense superbly well with his timed passing and tackles. No nonsense for him as our opponent’s striker soon finds himself getting numerous offline calls. To a point he got pissed and starts to change to the right flank instead of being the striker. MFC soon finds possession with the usual passing game we always needed and wanted. With the time ticking by, the referee calls for an end to the game. 2-1 to the final scoreline.

Good points
- Weather and field was awesome. Should look to play there often.
- Passing completion more then usual.
- Norris and Hakim’s calm passing is slowly influencing the whole team to pass like them.
- Calvin should be given credit for his shot stopper save. Funny thing is there wasn’t much noise coming from him today. HAHA.
- Man of the match should goes to Norris for being everywhere of the
defense line. Agree? =)

Bad Points
- I saw on the thread there was supposed to be only 13 players, turns out more then what was compromised.
- The field warden auntie thinks she really owns the field, harassing Abhi out of the field strictly cos he is smoking.
- We should look to train our fluent passing today as it’s a friendly game, however still sees players being quite nervous with their first touch and passes.
