Player of the Quarter Nominees (Mar 2012 to May 2012)

Hi Maestros!

Its time again to vote for your Player of the Quarter (Mar 2012 to May 2012). It has been an exciting last 3 months for sure, with new players joining the team and big wins in the X League and friendlies. A big thank you to all Maestro players who have contributed one way or another to our recent success! It is now time for us to give recognition to the outstanding Maestro players who have contributed both on and off the pitch.

For the new players to our football family, check out this previous post on what is the criteria to be nominated for Player of the Quarter.

The past results are as shown below; so who else will join this group of outstanding, selfless players?
  • Player of the Quarter for Aug 2011 to Nov 2011: Eric Ng (Big Eric)
  • Nominees: Augustine Zhou, Paul Liang
  • Player of the Quarter for Dec 2011 to Feb 2012: Jonathan Low
  • Nominees: Alan Chiang, Kartik S/O Narayanasamy

The Player of the Quarter (Mar 2012 to May 2012) Nominees:

Chue Guo Xian
A senior member of the team, Guo Xian's commitment to Maestro has always been evident ever since the first time he played. The original star striker of the team, Guo Xian's participation has sadly been less than desired, due to his long term battle with his ankle injury. Despite the setbacks, he has always wore his heart on his sleeve, giving his best to Maestro. Things are looking up for him; in the past quarter, Guo Xian has rediscovered his scoring boots as he led the attack in the X League close season. 8 goals in 6 matches, including a hat-trick against Katong nemesis El Manchuchos, a 4 goal salvo which knocked PIES FC senseless and the opening goal for Season 2 of the X League. Goals aside, Guo Xian has been punctual for matches and his other contributions to the team include him offering to play as keeper for a few games when we had no keeper.

Joel Lau
Despite only joining Maestro recently, surely no one can dispute Joel's contributions to Maestro in the matches he has played. In the 4 matches Joel has played so far, he has made the right flank his own as he became every left back's worst nightmare. Nominated for 2 Man-of-the-Match awards in 2 X League games so far, his pace, trickery coupled with selfless play has resulted in numerous assists for team mates hence it is no wonder that Maestro has racked up 27 goals in the past 4 games. Goal-wise he opened his account with 2 goals in his 4th game. Though our victories are the collective effort of all the Maestro players, new and old, it can be argued that his contributions have been impactful, transforming Maestro's playing style, by bringing a balanced approach to our gameplay and a viable attacking option. Off the field, Joel has integrated well with the team with his friendly persona, displaying commitment as seen from his attendance and willingness to write a match review when asked to.

Kuah Wee Hian
An enigmatic player to some in the past, Wee Hian has indeed come a long way with Maestro. His short departure from the team has not restricted his progress; instead, he has since gone from strength to strength and firmly established himself as the first choice centre back alongside Alan. Gone are the days of his uncertain play. Today, his steady, calm and confident style of play has helped keep our defence tight on numerous occasions. Off the pitch, Wee Hian has also contributed much- he helped organize a friendly game for the team, conduct warmup and it was through him that Maestro was able to know and recruit Eugene, Joel into the team.

The Player of the Quarter will be decided by SMS hence all Maestros please send your selected Player of the Quarter to my handphone at 9817 7390 before 1 Jun 2012 (Fri).

Thank you!

Walter, Captain
Gerald, Vice Captain
