2/5/2010 MFC Vs Slack Jacks Match Review

Match Review by Gerald Tan
Final Score: MFC 1 : 1 Slack Jacks (Norris 1)

Finally, the last game of the season was here but sadly as a walkover. The original opponents- Young Wolf United did not play hence it was a 3-0 walkover for MFC. A game must still be played hence Slack Jacks were MFC's friendly opponents this week.

A total of 19 MFCians turned up and everyone got to play more because Slacks Jacks were lacking 5 players. Players like Calvin, Chris Tan, Jonathan, Silas went over. MFC begun the match and started off strongly but the gameplay was sluggish and with poor passing everywhere. In fact as time went by, Slack Jacks were playing better as they were more hungry.

Chris Tan and Silas did a fantastic job in driving the Slack Jacks midfield and Calvin was a constant threat on the flanks. MFC seemed to have no answer to counter them and just after 10 minutes, Slack Jacks scored, courtesy of Lil Eric's friend who received a long ball well and beat make-shift left back Gerald by showing him a pair of clean heels before unleashing a powerful shot from outside the box.

That deflated MFC a bit and try hard as they can, it was very difficult to get back into the game. The second half was the same story but just as it seemed that MFC cannot score, Norris popped up to score with a fantastic header finish from a corner kick. With the score at 1-1, MFC continued to push but had no luck as 2 chances hit the post. Soffian and Guo Xian must be wondering what they need to do to score.

The match ended 1-1 and it was the last match of the season. This season has been somewhat of a fun season but with Vice Captain Walter's plans to relook into MFC's structure and other administrative issues due to many problems arising from players, it might spell the end of the road for MFC. Issues such as uncommitted players, players who owed money but did not pay up, players who want to leave MFC must be resolved first.

High Points
1) Silas, Chris Tan did very well in midfield as they were first to every ball and controlled the mdifield
2) Great headed goal by Norris

Low Points
1) Hot and humid weather making the game tiring
2) MFC's game play was disjointed and had no fluidity as everyone looked a bit tired and sluggish
