MFC bounces back in Friendly

Maestro FC 6 (Norris, Ahbi, Hakim, OG, Joel, Kartik) -  1 August friends team
Match Review by Kartik

After a 5-1 lose to stallionz FC last week maestro was all out to prove themselves.Today’s friendly was up against one of August friend’s team, whom we had no past experience with, so we were completely in the dark as to their style of play and which key players would cause maestro problems, all we knew were that they were a relatively new team. The weather was behaving erratically with sudden heavy downpours but thankfully there was no lightning or thunder, and hence the game could go on.

Maestro had a good squad of 15 men to begin the match. We adopted with a 4-4-2 formation to see if we could get an early goal. Calvin was in goal, while Norris, walter, howard anderic played defence. In the midfield we had kartik on the left, joel on the right, and yang de and Gerald in the middle. Upfront was our captain Guo Xian and Augustine. We started the game decently with joel making sparkling runs down the right taking atleast 2-3 defenders on each time but no goal came of his hard work. Despite us having more possession the first goal sadly was not ours but the opponents. A good through ball was fed to their striker and he calmly finished it off past calvin. We were down a goal but we weren’t daunted by the mountain that we had to climb. Fresh players were brought on as kartik reverted back to left back, and abhitaking up his role in left mid. Our talisman hakim was also on as an attacking midfielder, with Guo xian swapping roles with Norris who was now playing upfront as we changed our formation to 4-5-1. Our first goal was good overall play by the team. A nice through ball was fed to abhi as he ran down the flank and fed the ball to the far post, and Norris who made an excellent run into the box capped off a good maestro move to draw level. Shortly Maestro earned a corner, which Gerald took. He crossed a dangerous ball into the box, but no one could finish it off, after a scrappy clearance the ball landed on abhi’s left leg, and he just tried his luck by taking a shot. Stupefaction washed over his face as he saw the ball hit the back of the net, 2-1 to Maestro.  Soon the first half was brought to an end.

The second half begun with the Maestro continuing with the 4-5-1 approach. Early in the second half Maestro were awarded with a free kick near the penalty box. Abhi who took the free kick, crossed the ball into a dangerous area in the box, it struck one of the opponents heads and crept into the top corner of the net. 3-1 to Maestro. Maestro FC pressed on to increase the score line. The fourth goal was assisted by Abhi providing hakim with the chance to finish of the keeper. The fifth goal came in from a corner, our cap GX was also thirsty for a goal. After shaking off the opponents, GX managed to volley the ball but too bad it was cleared by the defender but joel was there at the right time right moment  to blast the ball into the net. I think it will take some time for the keeper to come out of shock from a goal like that! Well that examples the final goal of the match. Howard makes a pass to Joel, Joel dribbles pass three players and a beautiful pass to kartik, kartik found himself through on goal and shoots! The keeper could not keep out his lobbing ball, defenders even tried using they hands to stop the ball from going into the net .Like what the malay team always say (Hard luck) the ball went straight into the net. Maestro had a fantastic game today, keep up the good work guys!
