Friendly Game Washed Out by Monsoon Rain

(Non) Match Review by Guo Xian

Maestro FC P - P Sheraton Hotel

Yang De (Brian), MFC's latest recruit, brought in as a stand-by keeper as Gary was in Korea and Calvin attendance was inconsistent, knew that he wasn't going to be playing 90 minutes every game. But this is a man who never complains, never say a thing about his limited minutes on the pitch and even continues to organize friendly matches for MFC, despite the obvious poor attendance whenever a friendly match is arranged.

The importance of a friendly match is not be underestimated. The purpose of a friendly match is to keep the momentum going as physical fitness is different from match fitness. Friendly matches also give a chance for the team to work on technique, tactics, formations and more importantly chemistry in the team. This is the kind of breaks from the usual x league games that determines where MFC stands at the end of the season.

Maestro FC goes into this weekend's friendly match against a supposedly strong Sheraton Hotel football team with only 38.4% attendance - just enough to field a Futsal team. The persistent rain didn't help either. MFC was left disappointed when the organiser, field warden and opponents all informed that the game is a washed out. Attempts to get the game to be played were not successful, despite the seemingly good playing conditions.

MFC takes a break from football and will attempt to overcome USSR (our old rivals at Katong made up of supposedly all Russians) in the league next weekend. Venue and time to be confirmed. Attendance to the group thread by Tuesday 11.59pm please.
