Match Review by Chris Tan
It was a match full of controversy. A dubious referee call could change the match tilted one-sided. The opponents are a battled hardened team - A TV starlets from Vasantham Central, Mediacrop.
The game was fielded at Turf City, a ground of inaccessibility but good astro field. A good mix of 14 players turned up for the match. The match started with 4-5-1 strong lineup. Right at the start, Maestro have been pouring attacks; with Rong An capturing one defender's mistake. But he did not captialise his chances with a long shot. Few minutes later, Rong An setup one corner which Chris managed to head on target but was saved well by the keeper. Seemingly, Norris was also at the limelight. He missed a glorious 1 on 1 chance with the keeper with a poor effort.
With the mist of all the attacking, a brillance of Vasantham player's header managed to confuse the Maestro defence. A simple tap-in was all he needed to finish off Maestro. With the convincing buildup of attacks, the confidence level of Vasantham was high. A mistime tackle from a corner by Norris mishandled the ball, a penalty was given as a result. However, poor referee call as Norris was already on the ground. The penalty was converted.
In the second half, Maestro looked to bounce back from the initial setback. Rong An was fielded as a left midfielder and leaving Jeremy upfront. Vasantham managed to claim another penalty when a striker was brought down by Brian. Apparently, it seemed to be like a dive rather than any touch from Brian. The penalty was converted nevertheless.
Maestro have several corner chances; one included combination of Alan and Chris. Alan brought the ball down, and Chris managed to turn and shoot. The keeper did a superb parry on the ball, which kept the veteran from scoring. Maestro also had many chances with Jeremy unable to convert Joel's crosses.
Before the end of the game, Vasantham converted a Maestro defence error with a loop over the keeper. 4 - 0 is the scoreline.
