Maestro FC 10 : 0 Pie FC (GX 4, Jeremy 1, August 2, Thomas 2, Gerald 1)
Match Review by Chris Tan
"Are you sure? Dun bluff me leh!" - I am sure that the shocking news could not be believed by veteran players such as Rong An, Norris or Hakim. This is indeed a surprising scoreline which we did not expect right from the start of the match. We are not playing with a novice club, the club has at least 20 players, with a reputable manager and ample water supply given to the team. A 10 goal difference was not only an achievement of the Maestro's history, a clean-sheet was also achieved. Credits to the Calvin save of a penalty which directed straight at him.
To cut the story short, it was hard to remember all the goals scored by excellent individuals, and teamwork. Goal 1 - GX: He managed to get free from the defence and shoot a low grounded ball to the side netting. Goal 2 - GX: A superb Drogba style shot which beat goalkeeper at the near post. Goal 3 -August beating the keeper at far post. Halftime; Goal 4 - GX slotted in the keeper through individual talent and skills. Goal 5 - Thomas scored through a poor defence with a shot that beat the keeper at near post. Goal 6 - GX again for the forth goal. Goal 7 - Gerald corner that curl right into the net. Goal 8 - Thomas run through the defence after excellent ball distribution by Joel. Goal 9 - August with sheer determination to earn back the ball to slot in the net. Goal 10 - Jeremy after defence error which Thomas passed into the post for him to slot in.
Summarise the players rating - Based on PFA and FIFA rating standards
Defence
Calvin - 8/10 (His excellent save of the penalty kept a clean sheet of the team)
Wee Hian - 7.5/10 (Excellent header out of the box and keeping several threats at bay)
Alan - 7.5/10 (Excellent defence pair with Wee Hian)
Walter - 7/10 (Good cover at the wings, good reading of the game, mistakes on a few passes, can cope with the opposition wingers better by communication)
Howard - 6.5/10 (Excellent long throw-in, no serious threat to determine the ratings, always pushing hard to win the ball. Lose the ball too easily in the striker role, weak possession and ball control at attacking role)
Little Eric - 6/10 (3 noticable good header clearance, Nervous play today, mind seems like he is not concentrating on the game, gave away ball easily, definitely can do better)
Jonathan - 7.5/10 (Excellent determination seen in the player, desire to do better always manage well. Good communication with wingers, and good play at centre back)
Midfield
Gerald - 8/10 (The winning factor - Ball winner in the midfield. Makes the Maestro defence business poor. Goal through corner. Good passes seen, and always running to the correct position to defend)
Eugene - 8/10 (Excellent header clearance to the forwards, control of ball very well)
Joel - 8/10 (His trickery won many excellent comments, the next Ronaldo in the team, pacy attacking winger, do not afraid to cut defence)
Chris - 7/10 (No noticable mistake, force a good save in his shot which hit the bar, definitely can do better in midfield)
Augustine - 8.5/10 (Excellent 2 goals from the attacking style winger. Can do better in ball control and crosses into the box. Good track back for defence options)
Alywin - 6.5/10 (Almost scored 3 goals with open play. Good passing. Require pace in the player. Good positioning seen. Always trying his best.)
Attacks
Guo Xian - 10/10 (4 GOALS!!! How can you justify such terrific performance from the striker.)
Jeremy - 8/10 (Always chasing the ball, Tevez style. Good positioning seen. Good goal scored)
Thomas - 9/10 (Good introduction to the team! 2 goals to the team)
Did I miss out anyone? Or is this rating justifiable? Comments are welcomed...
Good points
- 10 GOALS! How on earth this scoreline is attained?
- Clean Sheet!
- Clinical finishing seen in new players. Passion in the players on the pitch is well observed too.
- Old Airport Road Market sells excellent Tou Hwa.
Bad points
- Poor goalkeeping from opposition side on the 2nd half.
- Shall keep the bad points to the minimum as the scoreline did not justify any reasons for bad points. We hope to get this scoreline every week.
- Rong An, Norris, Hakim would have caution threats in their first team position. BETTER BEWARE!
