Match Review by Kartik
It was a sunny Sunday afternoon, morale was high with the new season just starting, going into our third league game with an unbeaten run of 10 games in a row. Maestro had to win this game. The game was at Springfield sec, the pitch was not new to us as we have already played a game there. 19 Players for the match, more than enough players for every position.
Vice Captain Gerald started the game with our usual 4-5-1formation. With Gary as our goalkeeper, starting centre backs Norris and Big Eric, with Logen securing the left defends line and Howard on the right. Up above the Centre backs, were Chris Tan and Gerald playing a Defensive Midfielder role supporting the defends with Rong An having the attacking Mid Position. Augustine and Kartik flanking the left and right flank respectively and with Gifford storming the front. Maestro was focus on only one thing, to get the win!
MFC started strongly with the midfield holding the ball and controlling play not allowing the opponent to pass the ball around. We were playing well for first 15mins.
Not long into the first half came MFC first goal. Kartik made a beautiful pass through the center of the opponent's defence to Rong An. Rong An skipped pass two Arima players and shot right on gaol finds the back of the net! Goal number 1!!!
Not long Arima scored their first goal as there was some miss communication with the defence as the offside flag was up but referee continued play. To our surprise it happen twice again and Arima was in the lead in the end of the second half. Score line MFC1:3 Arima
Vice Captain Gerald gave very encouraging half time talk, saying let’s go for the win or at least a 3:3 draw nothing less. The second half started with Maestro showing more urgency and commitment to win the game. The defences did better in the second half as little eric, Norris, Big eric, Kartik and Gary did all they could to keep Arima from scoring.
The second goal for MFC came when Arima’s defender committed a foul on Chris Tan and the referee awared MFC the free kick, but the Arima’s player started to argue with the referee and referee was not happy with the way talked to him so red card was out and off he went. Rong An took the free kick and and found the back of the net, now Arima with 10 men and with just one goal down MFC players morale went up shy high. Vice Captain Gerald was screaming his lung out in joy.
Then came MFC’s equalizer when Arima’s player committed another foul on our striker Chue Guo Xian and guess who took the free kick YES! of course Rong An the free kick specialist(For more more details on “How to take free kicks like Rong An please go to youtube). Rong An took it and and found the back of the net again,it was a beautiful goal and I repeat BEA-U-TI-FUL GOAL!!!
And the full-time whistle goes! Good game for Maestro! Can u guys believe it 11 matches unbeaten streak WOW! (For more details on “How to take free kicks like Rong An please go to youtube).
