The X-League

Hi Maestros!

Having heard your feedback at the last AGM, Walter has been looking out for new, suitable soccer leagues for Maestro FC to participate in. One of the leagues Walter and myself feel is suitable is the X-League.

First brought to our attention by Raj from Weston Corporation and then by Abi on Facebook, the X-League is a new social soccer league. Some reasons why Walter and me are considering this league for us to join:

1) Its cheaper Compared to Sunsports $125 per match and $125 for team registration, the X-League is $100-$110 per match, $25 for team registration

2) More professional setup The X-League uses only FAS qualified referees and has a corporate full time team that looks into the league administration. They also have a rule book online here which clearly spell out rules about late walkovers, team discipline, team registration, substitutions (6 subs per game but unlimited subs at half time, rolling subs), wet weather etc.

3) Flexibility to play near our preferred areas Though we will need to bid adieu to Tembusu, the X-League will try to allocate school fields nearest to our preferred location. Mountbatten anyone?

4) Relegation and Promotion The X-League will look into allowing for relegation and promotion among the 8 teams in a league. Each team is played twice so a season so we have 14 games lasting from 4 to 5 months.

5) Incentives The prizes for top 3 teams are comparable to Sunsports, which include free games for the next season, trophy, team medals, automobile decals with team name and logo. What got Walter and me excited was that all league teams can play in the X Cup knockout tournament. If we reach the semis, we get to play at an S-League stadium! And if we reach the finals, we get to play at the Marina Bay Floating Platform with 3 match officials! By signing up for the league, we will also get 20 pieces of X-Cards which is a discount card for use at the league's partners and supporting organisations

This is a league which Walter and myself feel that we can start with, to move out from Sunsports. Its a new league, starting in Oct 2011 so we would like to hear from you Bees via the comment box here or Facebook on whether its a good move or not.
