18/9/2011 MFC Vs China Mixed Team Match Review

Maestro FC fails to take chances, losing 1-2 to China Mixed Team

China Mixed Team 2 : 1 Maestro FC (Augustine)
Match review by Jeffery
Morale was high after the Tuesday night Champions league match against Alwyn's friend's team. There was improvement in punctuality with most players coming and getting ready on time like the captain said. We started off with a team talk, about the leagues, about the picture discussion. After which, we continued on with our weekly warm-up routine led by Augustine.

Maestro started the game with the usual starting line up, hoping to take control the game right from the start. However, Our opponent who is a strong chinese team that played like Barca started off better. Making passes all over the field, with our players chasing most of the time. MFC started off slowly, losing the ball too easily and was overplayed practically all over the field.

The first goal came when the opponent’s left winger, unmarked, saw Gary out of his position and took a long shot from outside the box. Kicking the ball high and went pass Gary into the back of the net. The Chinese team attacked non-stop for most of the first half, giving through balls to their striker who couldn't convert it into goals. Rong An was given a controversial red card from the referee for shouting out a bad word from his left back position when a foul was not given. The first half ended with the score, 1-0.

The 2nd half started with the captain making a few changes from the team that started the game. 10-man MFC improved their game, making passes, having chances. Gaining confidence as the game went by. Our equalizing goal came from our right winger, Augustine. After attacking and trying to find the back of the net, Augustine did not waste his chance by tapping in a simple lose ball into the back of the net. Maestro FC had many chances, that were not converted.

The ball was at the opponents' half most of the 2nd half with Maestro attacking and trying to find the winning goal. However, the opponents were deadly in counter attacking. Letting us attack and countering with almost a goal each time they counter. Their 2nd goal, scored by their big striker, came around the last 15 minutes of the game. When most of the MFC players were attacking and out of position MFC lost the ball and their midfielder, passed a through ball to their striker. Easily tapped into the back of the net passing Gary with most of our players still running back to defend.

Rong An had a great chance to equalize in the dying minutes of the game after a penalty was awarded in favour of Maestro FC. He scooped the ball high and wide, and Maestro still has had some work to do in order to improve the flow of the game. But things are certainly looking up in the right direction. COME ON BEES!

HIGH POINTS
- good discipline from most players coming on time
- players did their warm up without complain of being tired for the game
- good turn out
- improved play for the 2nd half

LOW POINTS
- MFC unable to pass more than 5 times before losing the ball
- discipline and respect for the referee
- unnessary fouls and shouting that nearly cost mfc the game
