Message from Captain

Hi MFC!

Just to let you guys know, or to those who often check back here, we are playing Aldersgate Methodist church with the following line up – Walter, Howard, Rong An, Augustine, Norris, Alywin, Pom, Jason Zhu, Paul, Chris Tan (not sure), and a friend of mine.

First of all, I would like explain why I did not cancel the match. Recently, I received lots of emails and SMS regarding teams wanting to play friendly matches against us. I rejected most for a variety of reasons - venue, day, time etc. I think aldersgate and many others respected us enough to offer us a friendly against them. It also shows that our blog and maestro fc has grown as a club over the years. I've also arranged a FAS registered referee to officiate the match. Which are reasons why I persisted the match has to be on this Sunday.

It is saddening to see that only less than 1/3 of the team can make it for this match. I understand that everyone has your commitments, be it work or personal. I'm very disappointed with this week attendance and foresee the same situation in the coming weeks - I am out with an ACL tear, Abi is going for surgery soon with a meniscus and LCL tear, Eric is recovering and almost recovered from his ankle injury (we meet and see each other at changi sports medicine!), calvin injured his arm and still recovering, Zirong and Gary is busy with their projects till the end of semester, some has just started their job and career, chris lau, Kartik, Silas and Jonathan are in army.

Coming to the point of this message, I think its best MFC should stop our weekly soccer and all activities for the time being. Maybe one month, two months. I don’t know. Or maybe we will resume in 2011. Perhaps we all should take this time as a break to reflect on a number of things - why MFC has not been performing up to expectation over the last few weeks, how we can improve ourselves as a player individually, how we can make time on a Sunday afternoon for 2 hrs for a game of football and a get-together session.

Regards,
Guo Xian
