It’s the first time in 4yrs since we have celebrated with a trophy. The last trophy won was at Sunsports league in which MFC came in 2nd during 08/09 season. During those Sunday games at Katong, it provided the base foundation where our roots grew deep, wore our oversized Nike jerseys, fostered  deep friendships which eventually led MFC to challenge greater heights in X league. I remembered in our maiden season in X league, we were all somewhat worried how we would cope, but thankfully, we didn’t do too bad, considering the fact we were hailed as “comeback kings”. I also wana congratulate Karthik for winning Player of the quarter and Calvin for Most improved player.
Recently we created 2 upsets to supposedly better teams than us in the X cup, only to lose out to Newton Heath in the quarterfinals due to the lack of defenders and subs on that day. Wow, imagine if we had won the X-cup. How shiok would that be? The x cup competition showed we still had a lot to give as a team as I saw RongAn and many other players who tried their best to come even with injuries or other appointments. I also saw many players like Karthik and Abi improving by leaps and bounds and raising fast thru the team. I am also happy to see players like jon, Big Eric, Zengyi, Firdaus (maybe on his way back) joining us despite being away for so long. New exciting talents like YangShan and Jeremy  along with all of u also make my Sundays something I really look forward to.
Moving forward, I don’t know if all of us are still going to  be committed but with the influx of foreign talents to Singapore, I think MFC should also consider recruiting more new blood into the team as some of our players have plans to pursue other interest. AEM will be coming up soon (Capt GX, RA & Norris will plan) and I do hope we can seriously consider our individual commitment and love for this beautiful game, or should I say, OUR beautiful game. Its hasn’t been easy for a lot of us to give up 3-4hrs of our Sundays (including travel time etc) but I’m glad most of us kept moving this team alive after so many years.  For the new season, I not sure if we are going to continue the league or should we just play friendly every Sunday. Whatever it may be, I do hope we will continue to play as a team and never let our love for football die.
On Sunday, MFC played a poly team and won 4-2. During that game, we spotted a few talented youngsters as well as Augustine’s friend, Hanwei and Karthik’s cousin, Aaron. We will be getting some of them to join us for regularly before deciding on who to join us. It be a team decision to rope them in, considering not only their skills by also attitude. So keep a look out for them in the upcoming friendlys.
Have a gd week ahead Bees!
