Maestro through to the second round of X-Cup!

Maestro FC 2 : 2 Ace Galaxy (Rong An, Jeramy)
(Maestro won 2 : 0 on Penalties - Rong An, Kartik)

Match Review by Norris

The best offence starts from the DEFENCE.

Firstly sorry for the late review as I was really tied up with work to write up the review. And I might have just forgotten some of the goals and highlights, so just pardon me. This week saws us playing against a team that is unknown to Maestrofc. Located at turf city, many of us couldn’t even locate the field and I think Yang shan lost his way and was only present on the second half.

Before the start of the match, Vice captain Norris told the team to start playing a very defensive formation which sees the wingers playing a much lower position. With our Star striker Rong an back with us, we were told to just let him do the attacking and defend all the way. Starting line up with me and wee hian CB khatik and Howard full backs, 3 central midfielders Hakim, Jeremy and Yangde, wingers abhi, aug and our lone striker Rongan taking up his usual post.

The game started fine with a good mix of 2-3 subs, Intense ball control from both sides. Exchanging a good mix of passes and shots. We manage to slot 1 goal in by Rong An through a venomous shot that he made from outside the penalty box.

Half time saw us leading at 1-0 and to be honest, Vice Captain Norris kinda foresee the oppenents will be much aggressive on their first 15-20mins of the 2nd half. So a much more defensive line up was made. True enough, opponent manage to slot in 2 goals up with a few defensive error that the defence line made. 1 of the goal saw Norris going strong on the (botak) guy, apparently he manage to flick pass him and took a low right shot towards goal. Calvin was somehow the man of the match( if everyone agree), saving numerous shots from the fast paced strikers and wingers and also saving a penalty keeping Maestro in the game. We also saw Lil eric making afew tackles that wasn’t a need to and found himself having booked by the ref. And so we are not called comeback kings for nothing, just when we thought all hopes were lost, Jeremy manage to help us score the important equalizer goal and keep our hopes of staying in the game. Hakim was left roaming freely outside the penalty box, he manage to fire a stinging shot that the GK cant seem to grab hold of, Jeremy was the first to step up to the rebound with his head.

Final whistle blowed and we were very happy to be able to hold them for the whole 80mins, which VC Norris’s stoke city stubborn defence paid off.

3 keyman to take the penalty. Hakim, Rong an and Khatik.

1.  Calvin saves the opponents shot. 0-0.
2.  Rong an claimly slot in to the right side of the goal. 1-0.
3.  Opponent were nervous I guess, it hits the top post. 1-0.
4.  Khathik was the man to help maestro win the penalty with a cool low left shot. 2-0.

Never had we celebrated that wild as that moment. It likes Man united taking the title again. Running to khatik and almost carry him around. Haha. We were happy we manage to hold off a strong opponent and of cause thanks to VC Norris making the important subs and line up to keep us in the game. Everyone did well to hold them off.  Good job lads, we are still unbeaten! Cheers!

Good points

  • VC Norris making a very promising line up and controlling the teams morale.

Bad points

  • We need to have more players coming. This was a important match to us and I feel that we need a stronger line up in the future.
  • Location for the field is a bitch.
