Mistakes cost Maestro to lose for second straight game

MFC 1 : 4 Sinombre (Abi)

Match Review by Gary

After last week defeat against Espanyol Elites, MFC is looking to get a result against a certainly competitive but winnable opponent, Sinombre FC. Before the start of the game,. Captain Walter stressed the importance of enjoying our soccer and playing to our best regardless of whether we win or lose the game. With several of our strikers missing, Captain Walter decided to adopt a 4-5-1 formation, with Big Eric playing as a lone striker upfront.

It was a really humid weather and this made it more challenging for MFC players. The game started with Sinombre looking the more threatening side as they pile immense pressure on MFC’s defence. It was not long before Sinombre got their first goal. Keeper Gary misjudged a freekick as the ball loops over him into the back of the net. Certainly not the best of start MFC expected. The second goal was a classic dribble by one of Sinombre’s attackers as he skinned pass 2 or 3 MFC defenders before slotting coolly pass Keeper Gary. MFC did step up their game, but were unable to create clear cut chances to beat Sinombre’s defence. On the contrary, Sinombre got their 3th goal through a deflection from a free kick into the back of the net.

During halftime, Captain Walter demanded more neat passing and possession by the team. Pau lalso got his opportunity to play in a more advanced forward position and he displayed some tireless running to close down defenders. The 2nd half was a much spirited performance with some brilliant defending at the back. MFC’s perseverance paid off as Abi managed to score a stunning goal for MFC. A neat pass found Abi and his first touch is good which allows him to create sufficient space before unleashing a beautiful strike that is destined towards the back of the net. It was simply magnificent! However, Sinombre extended the lead as a routine catch was misjudged by Gary towards the end of the game. It was not long before the referee blew the whistle to signal the end of the game. 1-4 the final score!

High Points
1) Despite the humid weather, MFC players give their best and the effort is commendable.
2) Paul got his opportunity to play in an advanced position.

Low Points
1) We could have gotten a better result than what the scoreline suggests
2) A lot of mistakes committed, particularly in the goalkeeping department.
