Match review by Lil Eric
The Bees and current xleague top scorer Rong'An scored a stunning goal from 50yards right from the start of the match againt table topper Armanis FC at the cursed Khalsa pitch. Both the punjabis and even the referee were stunned. The clock on the referee's watch read 0.05sec. The punjabis soon levelled the scoreline when one of their players manage to unleash a weak shot pass Yangde who fumbled the ball due to the wet weather condition. Maestro then regain the lead when Rong'an fired a shot pass the opposition goalkeeper who made a Massimo Taibi "save". The punjabis were left desperately in search of an equalizer and soon got theirs when a goal mouth scramble from a corner kick which allow their shorter and smaller version of Robert Pires tapping home the equaliser. The punjabis third goal came from a similar fashion as compare to their first one. The bees were dealt with a blow when the fourth goal was scored through a freekick.
There are incidents whereby dirty tackles were seen being launch at the bees but the referee chose to ignore them. The bees came close on a few occasion but were unfortunate not to get an equalizer. This writer felt that the referee were bias on his decision most of the time including both his assistant. Rong'an even claimed that one of the linesman looks a bit gayish with the way he react to his decision. The half time team talk from captain GX spurred the team on. The bees pressed hard hoping to reduce the scoreline but were deny by poor decision and dirty tackles. Credits should be given to all the players for playing their hearts out and especially to Alan and Chris whose timely header were superb throughout the entire match. The fifth goal soon arrive when once again their Robert Pires look alike player manage to find the back of the net when he beat Norris to the ball. Norris is officially back after receiving a hefty 1k fine from the team captains. There were controversy prior to the match when this write found out from the xleague website that most of Armanis matches were being played at the Khalsa pitch. Could they be in cahoot with the organizer? http://www.xleague.com.sg/competition/sunday-premier/3/3. Right before kickoff, words could be heard from the Punjabis telling their teammates to collect their own match ball from the office.
The bees are looking forward for the reverse fixtures against the punjabis. But will they get the benefits of the doubt to play at their own home ground again? Maybe the organizer should provide a good explanation.
High Points
1). Rong'an made history for Maestro as well as in the xleague with a superb 5secs goal from 50yards. Even most professional players could not do that.
2). The rainy weather did not prevent the Bees from running their lungs out. And to Dino( Friend of Rong'an) thanks for joining us and playing at your best.
3). Norris is back from his AWOL last week.
4). The organizer can be finally seen snapping photos happily away.
Low Points
1). Rong'an were seen being poached by one of the punjabi player after the match asking him to join his outside team.
2). Bad weather conditions and poor refereeing decision makes the game harder for the bees.
3). Absence of regular players gives the captains selection headache.
4). Both the captain and writer felt that the size of the team seems to have decreased.
We win and lose as a team. Every individual make mistake.
