4/3/2012 MFC Vs K1K FU Match Review

Maestro come back from behind to beat K-1-K
Match Review by Hakim
Final Score: K-1K FU 2 : 3 MFC (Hakim, Rong An x2)

It was a perfect weather to start with and the pitch looks smaller than usual. Maestro had 14 players for this game and this is the 1st half starting lineup: Calvin, Rong An, Howard, Norris, Big Eric, Chris, Gerald, Hakim, Kartik, Abi and August.

Maestro started well for the first 20 minutes of the 1st half, getting the balls into the opponents half and even had some good chances to score. After the 20 minutes, K1K started to get comfortable with play and their goal kicks were such a threat to Maestro. Maestro playing 5 midfielders were not feasible as the pitch was too small for the players to move around. Maestro conceded the first goal through the corner with a curling cross passing by every Maestro players in the box and fall nicely to
K1K’s RayBan defender with a simple header. 5 minutes later, referee blew the whistle to end the 1st half.

There were some tactical changes during the half-time talk. Maestro changed from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 with the following line-up: Calvin, Walter, Howard, Norris, Chris, August, Alywin, Gerald, Abi, Hakim and Rong An. It was not a good start for Maestro as they conceded early in the second half. A long goal-kick fall to K1K striker, controlling the ball well and past by 2 Maestro’s defenders and gave a final low shot passing by Calvin.

Maestro spirit was dampened but the game still not over yet. Maestro get a lifeline when Rong An was tripped in the penalty box. Without any problem, he slotted the penalty into the back of the net. Maestro scored again 5 minutes later when a long ball from Maestro’s half passed by 2 K1K central defenders and fall to Hakim who flicked the keeper and scored the equaliser. At this point of time, Maestro was not settled with the draw and went on to search for the winning goal. Soon after, Rong An received the ball from the half-way line and gave a powerful long shot which the keeper could not get hold of the ball and passed into the back of the net. At this point of time, Maestro’s leading 3-2.

The focus for the remaining minutes was to defend the lead. Bad tackles started to fly from K1K, almost causing injury to some of the Maestro players. K1K keep on attacking and there were some chances that they missed. The remaining minutes felt like the longest that the writer had ever been through on the field. After some longgg minutes, the referee blew the final whistle.

Special mentions to 3 Maestro players: Calvin couple of heroic saves, Rong An 2-goal hero and Norris last minute goal line clearance. All 3 deserve to be Man of the Match!

Good points:
• Calvin’s heroic saves
• Very good defending after the 3-2 lead
• Perfect weather
• Maestro’s teamwork

Bad points:
• Small pitch
• Bad tackles from K1K almost causing serious injury
