13/9/2011 MFC Vs Aylwin's Friend's Team

Maestro back on track!

Alwyn’s Friend’s Team 2 : 3 Maestro FC (Norris, Alwyn, Logen)

Match Review by Alan Chiang

If any case, Alwyn’s friend must be furious that Alwyn was not on their side of the scoring end. Maestro FC played their second match in three days and had to recover from a slow start at the Safra Tampines.

The situation was pretty much similar to any other professional clubs, who have had to play several games within a couple of days. Without doubt, Maestro is seeking to redeem itself after the recent loss to Blacks United last Sunday.

However, Maestro was on the back foot early into the game when the opponent scored from a corner. The opponent had a clear header at goal when he was caught unmarked. Since then, Maestro picked up the tempo and had several half chances at goal.

It was only towards the end of the first half when Norris broke free down the right flank after a precise through pass from Guo Xian, who was playing at right-back position. Like how Messi did it against Real Madrid, Norris dribbled towards the opponent’s goal and placed a shot pass the advancing opponent’s goalkeeper. The score line stood at 1-1, at half time.

Maestro took full control of the second half right from the whistle. Maestro did not take too long to find the second goal even with a completely new line-up for the second half. It was a great through pass from midfield maestro Hakim who founded Alwyn in the opponents’ penalty area. With only the goalkeeper to beat, he drilled a shot towards goal and celebrated in style. (For your info, he celebrated like Torres, the sliding style.)

Logen increased Maestro’s lead mid-way through the second half with a lobbing ball towards goal. He picked up the loose ball after a poor corner clearance by the opponents. The goalkeeper could not do anything about that.

In case you wonder what the line-up for the second half was, just take a look here:
GK – Gary, Defenders – Guo Xian (LB), Norris (RB), Han Rong (CB) and Chris Tan (CB), Midfielders – Gerald (CM), Hakim (LM), Zi Rong (RM), Jeffery (CM), Alwyn (CM), Forward – Logen

The rest: Alan, Augustine, Walter, Gifford, Lil Eric, Howard, Alex were among the ranks.

The opponents managed to snatch another consolation goal towards the end of the game after Maestro had failed to clear a loose ball in the penalty area. Maestro had to scramble to hold on for a well-deserved victory. Kudos to all!

Come ‘on, BEES! Winning feeling just doesn’t stop here.
