The Annual Maestro FC’s AGM was a blast!

Jonathan and Abi (Yam Ah Bi) played hosts and provided the venue for us at the Mandarin Gardens – Function Room. The AGM kicked off on a lighter note with a series of football-related questions posted to all MFC players and GAFs. Majority of the prizes were sponsored by Mel! (Thanks Mel!)

There were some great prizes up for grabs, which included a Manchester United’s jersey with Ryan Gigg’s name and number imprinted (Thanks Gerald!), a Barcelona’s jersey sponsored by Eric Ng, and a Newcastle United’s jersey by Guo Xian. A big thank to those who had contributed to sponsor the prizes!

First of the two important moments was the awards ceremony for the following:

1) Player(s) of the month, from August 2010 to June 2011 (Yet to confirm July and August 2011)
The player(s) of the month awards were distributed across a number of players who included Guo Xian, Alan, Rong An, Gerald, Gary, Alex, Norris and Kartik.

2) Most capped player
This award was given to Gerald, Walter and Guo Xian who had been at almost every single game for Maestro FC.

3) Golden Boot
Rong An with the most number of goals scored for Maestro FC.

4) Most improved player of the year
Young Jeffery took the honour for his recent gusty performances.

5) Defender of the year
Alan managed to nick this award with Gary having the next highest number of votes.

6) Midfielder of the year
Gerald
scooped this special award with his ever-hardworking “Destroyer” role for Maestro FC.

7) Forward of the year
Rong An
also picked up this award as he was the highest scorer for MFC.

8) Player of the year
A number of players were nominated in this category but Alan managed to grab this honorary award.

In between the crucial voting systems, Guo Xian had delivered a speech which highlighted the achievements over the past year. Then, it was the voting for the new Captain, Vice-Captain as well as the various committee positions. There were a number of re-votes (As you can see, it’s so important and nervy!) as the vote counts were tight. (As good as Tan Cheng Bock vs. Tony Tan)

In case you missed all the results, below is the list of new committee members (You may wonder why both Tans are at the top, that’s because our Presidential election said so! You can check with Yam Ah Bi.):
· Captain – Walter Tan
· Vice-Captain – Gerald Tan
· Finance Advisors – Howard Chen
and
Alex Sim
· Social Media Officers
(Facebook, blog) – Chris Tan and
Alan Chiang
· Kitsman
(sprays, ice-packs, tapes, soccer balls, etc) – Randahl

With a new team at the helm for Maestro FC, both captain and vice-captain got down to some quick decisions. Walter and Gerald had emphasized 4 key points to achieve for the next year(sorry! I forgot the 4 key points except for punctuality).

Both of them, together with the majority of the team, had indicated to continue playing at Katong until Maestro FC is all ready to face other opponents in other leagues. Most players concurred and Maestro FC will continue to play good and better football in days, weeks and years to come.

Kudos to all for making this AGM a great one!

*Thanks Zi Rong for the nice Presidential Election-style booklet.

Wait! Hold on! Are we getting free bubble teas too? ;)
