Final Score: MFC 3 - 2 Tamil Tigers (Randahl, Jeffery, Alex)
Venue: Katong Field
Goals that you do not see in a lifetime
MFC welcomed back Eric from National duties to perform what he was built to do for, DESTROY! Maestro’s opposition was the Tamil tigers who previously lost to us by only an own goal, it was lucky that the team scrapped through despite the splendid performance of Tamil Tigers on that match. MFC did not dare to underestimate the opponents as compared to the previous session.
Before the match, there was a bet between Abi and Alex on the faster runner. The loser would buy a jug of beer, but neither approached the bet lightly. With the balanced tummy, Alex did not think that he was at the losing end. Abi had a smoke to boast his morale before the run. As a result, Abi did not disappoint the huge anticipation of crowd to humiliate towards Alex.
Indeed the first half was a fair match with each team having their chances on the opposition halves. The posts were heavily guarded by Eric, GuoXian, Walter, Alan, Howard, and Gary the keeper. The midfield was secured tightly by Gerald, Jonathan, Chris, Alex. While the wingers Alywin, Abi, Norris, Randell sprint down the flank. The strikers include the 15 year old inspirational player Jeffery and the long awaited Gifford back from overseas studies.
Tamil took the first blood as they scored the first goal by running through the defenders and slotted past Randell. A morale devastating blow for MFC right from the start of the game. However, somehow MFC felt that they would not lose the match.
Right before the half time, Chris found himself free to shoot upon recovery a ball from a clearance of corner. The spinning ball flew past the top of the boot and swirled out for a goal kick. Chris missed a splendid chance to equalise. Much time wasting tactic was shown by the Tamil Tigers.
Knowing that Maestro had a lot to play for, and Maestro had not done a bad job defending, GuoXian gave Maestro the heads up during the half time talk.
The second half was the highlight of Maestro. Imagine MFC scored 3 goals in the short span of 10 minutes. The first goal was a superb rundown by Abi which his cross was lucky enough to be deflected to Randell feet in an open goal. The second goal was another amazing goal from outside the penalty box shot hard into the opposition net by 15 year old Jeffery. The third goal was even more splendid than the first two, a volley from a clearance send the ball right into the box, it was an epic goal by Alex. So far the best goal I ever seen by him. All 3 goals took alittle of luck to end the ball on the back of the net.
Tamil Tigers brought back 1 goal back by the lacklustre defending and late charging by Gary. MFC claimed the victory with the 1 goal difference yet again.
