Final Score: MFC 1 : 2 Blue Money (Rong An)
With a hard fought 2-1 victory over Pine Close Boys last week, MFC started with an all-round spirited performance against Blue Money in the first half. Despite the gloomy weather, MFC was fantastic in the first half as Rong An recorded his 2nd goal of the season, and with Alan, Chris and Brian throwing their bodies to block multiple shots.
The game started off with a good response of 23 people, including newcomers. Our Vice Captain, Alan who was determined to secure this win adopted an attacking 4-4-2 formation, with Rong An and Norris up front, Gerald and Alex patrolling the midfield.
The game started with Blue Money having a majority share of the ball possession, playing good passing and controlling the midfield well. However, their huge share of possession was well matched by a fantastic defence by MFC, with right back Khatik putting on a superb defensive performance. The closest chance for Blue Money came when their winger square the ball into the 6th yard box, but was well defended by Zi Rong. However, it was not long before MFC got their first goal. A Blue Money’s corner was well cleared by Alan and MFC started the counter with Rong Ah putting on an energetic solo run before unleashing a left-footed shot pass the despairing Blue Money’s keeper. MFC continue to play well after the goal, with good link-up between the centre back and midfield.
First half ended MFC 1: 0 Blue Money
The second half started with our captain guoxian making a few changes, getting the new players into their respective positions. With a goal behind, Blue Money was pouring man forward and pinging long balls into the MFC penalty box. MFC was sluggish at the start of the 2nd half as we were unable to get back the ball possession for quite some time.
Blue Money soon got their equalizer. A lobbing though ball found the Blue Money playmaker (wearing blue shorts) who skipped past Zi Rong and unleash a venom shot pass keeper Gary. It was not long before Blue Money scored their 2nd goal. We so often talk about quality of crosses, and a superb cross by the Blue Money winger (Blue short guy again) was well met with a good lopping header by the striker past keeper Gary.
The remaining of the 2nd half saw MFC moving men forward in search of an equalizer. It was a match full of tackles as MFC players was brought down by many vicious tackles of Blue Money players. MFC had a good chance to make it level, with Rong Ah having a 1 on 1 chances, but credit to the keeper for narrowing down the angle and preventing MFC to get back on level terms.
