Match Review by Brian Teo
Final Score: MFC 0:3 Blue TKT
A total of 19 players turned up for today's match at the Kovan field. For lack of a better name, the opponents this week shall be known as the Blue TKT (given by Alex) and it was a cracker of a match!
MFC lined up a good team, with about 15 existing players and 4 new players. Our newly elected captain (Guo Xian) decided to make use of this match as an experimental match for our 4 new players to get a feel of playing on a field as well as learning the team's playing style.
The match started off with the team adopting the usual 4-5-1 formation with Gary in between the post. MFC enjoyed a huge portion of possession in the first 10-15mins of the game, playing good passing game and controlling the ball between the midfield and the defence.
The closest chance for MFC soon came when a long ball was swing into the box. Kartik was there to head the ball calmly towards the path of Rong an for a shot at the goal but it was blasted wide. Nevertheless, it was a good effort from MFC. The game continued with the opponents trying to play lots of long ball into MFC's half and beating the offside trap. The first goal of the game goes to Blue TKT when a through ball was unleashed from midfield for the striker to tap in from close range after beating Gary in a 1-on-1 situation. The match went on with loads of complains and "fighting" from both sides of the team.
First half ended: 1-0 to Blue TKT.
During the break, Captain GX reshuffled the team, playing the 4-4-2 formation and getting the new players to play in their respective position. Second half went on in similar fashion with MFC playing short passing game and the opponents spraying long balls into MFC’s turf.
Second half was more of a quarreling/physical challenge affair between both teams as members of both sides start to throw “hands & legs” at each other. Shouting and quarreling soon became part of the game. Blue TKT got their second goal with a nicely placed shot which loop over keeper Gary who was out of his line (and the opponents celebrated like as if they won the World Cup).
Thought it was a disappointing match which ended 3-0 to Blue TKT, MFCians can take some learning pointers from this match in terms of learning how to control our emotions and composure in a match.
High Points:
1) Good attendance!
2) Good passing and possession game for the first 10-15mins.
3) Credits to Gary for making numerous 1-on-1 saves and the finger tip save in the second half.
4) A chance for the new players to experience playing with the team.
5) 1 cap for everyone!!
Low Points:
1) Referee talk too much! Make the decision, shut up and move on!2) Rough opponent causing injuries to many players in the team. Take care guys.
3) MFC players have to learn to control their emotions and temper on the field.
4) Can we request for 1 x box of mineral water too?
